How to Fix a Leaking Van in St. Louis!

As I was getting out of my minivan, I looked down to see that fluid was leaking out of it. The Arches where in view and now another problem to kill the day! I was so glad I had not ordered tickets online early that morning!

  1. Call the closest mechanic shop to see if you should drive it or get it towed!

I called and explained what was going on. They said that it should be ok to drive it as I explained that it was a clear liquid that was a bit oily.

2. Drive to the shop and ask how far away is the attraction that you want to see.

The shop was right across from the St. Louis Cardinals Station at 715 South Broadway Street, Saint Louis, MO which was across the street from the Field House Museum.

3. Give them your keys and phone number!

I handed over my keys and explained my situation. I gave them my phone number.

4. Take a nice walk over to the Arches!

I really did not want to sit in the shop and wait. With the Arches being only about a 15 minute but then Budweiser was just down the street as well and across the street was the field house museum.

5. Take the call!

I got a call from the shop less then an hour later to tell me that the radiator was toast and needed to be replaced. They gave me a cost for the repair.

6. Approve the repair cost!

I approved the repair cost and he told me that he would make sure that it was completed by close.

7. Enjoy your day and walk back to the mechanics before close!

The rest of the day was spent walking around the Arch, visiting the museum, taking the Tom Sawyer River Boat Tour, and having lunch. Then I walked back and it was ready to go. They did not even have to call me.

But if you are even in St. Louis and have a repair needed, then I would call them at (314) 241-1959. Dobbs Tire and Auto Center. (They are not paying me for this but I did love the service.)

Remember to always make lemonade out of lemons. It could have been a very bad day but instead, except for having to pay for the repair, it was a great day and I enjoyed going to the St. Louis Arches and on a river boat ride.
