What Happened to Summer Fun 2022?

During the winter of 2022, I just could not wait for summer to come. Longer days to be able to go places longer and enjoy traveling to the Dakotas, seeing Yellowstone, running around Glacier National Park, swimming on the beach, and so much more.

But what happened to summer it is almost September? What happened to enjoying the Sun and the outdoors? I spent most of my summer indoors with the air condition turned up. I was in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 2 weeks plus and only left the AirBNB to go to the Zoo, Garden, Volcano, and Aquarium. That was only half days because you had to be home before 1 pm or it was just too hot.

On the way to Albuquerque, I planned to spend a week getting there. The first day out was wonderful. Just head from Atlanta, GA to Albuquerque. But then it changed, Texas was looking at 107 plus. I was working my way towards Lake Meredith National Recreation Area to stay for a bit.

I changed my AirBNB from a 2 week stay to 2 week plus stay and had to keep moving because it was too hot to stop. Little Miss. Olive Oil did not even want to get out of the van to take a walk to go potty. She was overheating just for that one day. But a Black Pug under the intensive sun that we had this summer was no joke. Even a morning or evening walk was almost to much for her. (She a bit chunky after the summer.)

I know that summer gets hot. But this summer was absolutely ridiculous. I could not find any where to hide. Washington and Oregon coast is usually a winner but I heard from family that those places were even too hot to be in. I can’t remember anyone that I know who has had a summer that they were expecting. I have a friend that yard is overgrown a bit who always cuts it in a timely manner due to the fact that it was just to hot to be outside.

So, I started a second Etsy shop. The first shop was about Dollhouses but I found that I like making Dollhouse items but they were more defined then I wanted to be with my personality. So, I started making Fairy houses and items that go into those Fairy and Doll houses.

My first shop is all about the wonderful things that I find when I am traveling. I have renamed PenelopeVintageitems. I enjoy shopping for things to make my Fairy houses plus great finds for making Fairy and Doll miniature furniture and accessories. But I am finding a lot of great things that will go to the dump if someone does not pick them up and save them.

The second shop MiniatureDreamHouse is all about miniature houses for Fairies, Dolls, birds, and other housing options such as Lighthouses. It also has furniture and accessories for those houses. Plus a few Fairies, Dolls, Angels, woodland creatures, and other neat little things such music boxes, plates, or other trinkets which are Miniature and/or Fairy, Doll, fantasy, or Angel related.

Please check out my shops and tell your family and friends as I am saving so many things from go to the dump and giving you a new special treasure. The profits allow me to keep up this website which I will be getting better at doing at least weekly, as I am changing the format to better match my travels and your interest.

I was getting so bogged down with the details that I was not talking about the things that are really important. But that changes now! Instead of holding back until I can do every trail or thing in a place, I am just going to write about traveling. The things that happen to me are just outrageous and hysterical. Plus, if you want to go on the beaten path, I am not really the one to follow. I tend to find things that no one else finds and see thing in a totally new way. But I will make sure that I have lots of tips about them.

The goal is to see all the Federal and State Parks in the US but also to travel oversee when things get easier. This site will just be a bit of a journal about that trip with pictures and stories. Now that the shops are up and running…I am so excited.

Plus I found a window. I am headed to Maine! Dropping of Little Bit, i.e. Olive Oil (the pug) at Fall Camp, in Pennsylvania. She does not get to come for two reasons, I want to visit the National Parks and most of them only allow her in the parking lots which is no fun for either of us and two, just in case we get another heat wave. I hate to leave her behind but she loves camp for about the first two weeks. I have been leaving her since she was a puppy with a friend so she loves her time with them and knows that I am coming back. It is her second home.

So, away to Maine I go…..
