Watch the Sunset at Memorial Lake State Park
Memorial Lake State Park is right next to Fort Indiantown GAP National Guard Training Center and Indiantown GAP National Cemetary. Eastabilished in 1931, the Fort Indiantown Training Center was used to train soldiers for World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf Wars.
The Memorial Lake State Park was established in 1945 to remember those Pennsylvania National Guard soldiers that served during World War I and II. Today, the park is used by both civilians and military personal for recreation.
I got to the park just before sunset because I want to see the sunset over the lake. It would be just to good to miss.
Along the way, I found this deer having dinner. Didn’t even care that a human was around.
The lake host lots of picnik areas, a boat launch, and a boat rental place for those without a boat.
Plus this incredible dam with the moon over it.
Which is incredible long…
The spill way is very wide and passable with low flow.
The dam was actually constructed in 1945 while the park was being created.
I love the moon being out on one side of the dam…
…while the other side, the sun goes down creating a sky with yellows, reds, purples, and blues.
Beautiful walk back to the car. It is just getting darker and darker but it was just so beautiful out. It was so relaxing to watch before getting back to camp to get to sleep.
During the winter, ice skating and ice fishing is available!
