South Park & Hartwoods Acres Free Summer Concerts (Pittsburgh, PA)
Every summer South Park and Hartwood Acres host free concerts in the park. They have everything from local bands to bands that are about to take off to the top stars of music shows to old bands (Jefferson Starship) to the two time Grammy winning Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to the Pittsburgh Opera.
The music is change every week from funk, rock, blues, jazz, country, retro pop, soul, classical, and brass band such as the River City Brass Band which is incredible (don’t miss their Halloween or Christmas Concerts). Check the Allegheny County web site for the summer concerts.
South Park is every Friday night and Hartwood Acres is every Sunday night. Concerts start at 7:30 pm unless otherwise stated, usually the two time Grammy winning Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra does a patriotic concert around July 4th at both parks and it will start later but includes fireworks.
Food trucks are available at both parks but you can bring you own picnic baskets and alcohol. Hop Farm Brewing Company has craft beer available starting at 6 pm.
Dogs are allowed but use your own judgement on if your dog will be good here. I had two pugs. One love going but the other hated it.
Don’t forget to bring a blanket or folding chairs.
