What have I been up to for the Last Year?

April 16, 2022

I forgot to Journal for the beginning of this trip, but I will back track a bit.  It has been a bit of time since I was doing journaling or much of anything on this site.  One of the reasons being that after the Appalachian Trail, which I spent a month on, I was just trying to see how I was going to do it.  As I was out of money and had to restart my business.  I was trying to decide to give up the site or change it.  Also, I had a lot of material on the AT but most of the items were things that I would rather talk about after the trail and a bit of time.

I enjoyed my time on the trail but as in life, I was still having issues with people.  Ok, I was having issues with men.  One that keep wanting me to join him in his tent and another that somehow thought that I should be his trail buddy and do what he wanted and when he wanted without input.  Then someone stole my food bag and then I was done.  I keep going for a bit but I overexerted myself to get to a ride to get to town. My body which was already recovering from the first day having an asthma attack just could not recover.  It was just two miles of a force hike pass what as much as I could do in a day but I was done by the time that I got to Franklin a week or so later.

I had lost 15 pounds in the month which sound nice but for me it was too much too fast.  Plus I was not really hungry. I think that I went into starvation mode and I couldn’t eat more then 1/2 of what I could before I started the trail. Even walking from my hotel room to town which was less than a mile was torturous and overwhelming which was without a pack.  My body was telling me to stop and I did. Because getting hurt was not in my plans!

I don’t think that a thru hike is for me.  The sights were lovely and hiking was fun but after a short time it was more just boring after a while. Plus I am not into being hot and sticky which was next cycle of weather. I like being clean! But I think that I will do a month next year!

Plus most people are working out who they are, where they are going, and all the demons that haunt them.  They also go out to test their skills and see what they are made off.

The problem is that I don’t have any really deep demons that I have not faced.  I know what I wanted when I went on the trail which was to find a way to travel at least 3 months or more per year.  I even known how I was going to fund it.  I just had to work out the details of either hiring staff to deal with my business, i.e. accounting, or take on clients that I could do remotely after they were set up or just do set ups and training around travel, i.e. I set up clients in Quickbook then train them and come in as they need additional help which is usually just at December to April. (Not great travel times for the Western Hemisphere any way! If you know anyone that needs this, then hook me up!)

As far as skills, I have a lot.  I learned them when I was a child and as things come up, I tend to figure out a way to solve issues before they become problems.  I tend to see a problem and solve it both in hiking and in life. So, it really was not about my skills!

But as live goes on, plans change.  I moved to Atlanta to restart up my business and start real life with travel on the side.  I also needed a hobby, so I started picking up dollhouses.  But I hate making just one of anything, so I started an Esty shop to sell off the other items that I did not need in my dollhouse village.  As I was creating, I realized that I like fantasy a bit more than reality house items.  I found fairy houses.

Currently, I am making Fairy Houses as well as items for dollhouses and so are interchangeable.  I also love going thrift shopping and finding things for my crafts and I am also finding a few vintage things that I am selling. Mainly because I have them around the house and get to change them as they sell. Of course, my favorites tend to sell first…lol Check out my Esty shop, it has some cool Fairy stuff!

But I am also travelling a lot.  After I moved to Atlanta, I meet someone that wanted to travel as much as I do.  As I was going to wait until I had a business running and employees, he did not want to wait.  So, we have agreed that I do a bit of business here and there to pay a few bills but mostly we will just be traveling.  My new job is more travel guide and ensuring that we go places.  So, I build a bigger bed and throw him in my minivan! I am having a lot of fun, and this is the third time, we have traveled together but it will not be the last!

But it works out as I now have to slow down a bit. I have a lot of energy and need less sleep than most people, i.e. I need five to seven hours most nights. While he sleeps, I have time to blog! So, expect more post in the coming days. I am on a trip that started on April 11 and don’t have stop traveling until an appointment in mid to late May. I am in Texas now and plan to travel to the other states that are warm at the moment but are about to become unhappily to hot to be in shortly!
