Marion County Veterans Memorial

Along I-79 in West Virginia above exit 137 is the Veterans Memorial Bridge. It looks new and it is pretty with flags one each side.

Visitor Center

If you take exit 137, then the visitor center is right off the South bound exit and over the bridge for the North bound exit. It looks like an old fort. I did not have a chance to go in.

Across the street is the Vietnam Memorial and directly behind the visitor center, Marion County is currently building the Koran Memorial. I look forward to seeing it when it is complete.

Memorial Bridge and the future site of the Koran Memorial

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial has etched in the 27 men who died in Vietnam from Marion County. The murals depicts all the branches of the military but it looks like they are still working on it.

The memorial includes a Huey Helicopter that you can walk up to and it is amazing to view. Also, if you have an old flag that needs to be retired, they have a post box that you can drop the flag into.

Along with the memorials, the park offers a pool, a water slide, playground, picnic areas, tennis courts, and other sport areas. It is a nice place to hang out for the day or to stop as your traveling down the road for lunch.
